4th Annual Hambone Jam
View All NewsThe 4th Annual Hambone Jam will take place September 11-12, 2009 in Fort Valley.
Preparations are underway to make sure that this years event is just as good if not better than last years event. The event will again serve as a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Georgia Heartlands and the Fort Valley Police Department Benevolent Fund. Two corporate sponsors have been secured for this years event. SunMark Bank & The Leader Tribune have both generously agreed to support the competition.
The Hambone Jam is the Georgia Barbecue Association’s official State Championship and as such the best barbecue cookers in Georgia show up to earn their place in Georgia BBQ history. The competition has been formally recognized by the Georgia Senate in Senate Resolution # 436 sponsored by Senator George Hooks of the 14th District. This resolution was read on the floor of the senate and approved on March 03, 2009. We are excited and pleased that our legislators have chosen to officially recognize the Hambone Jam as the official GBA State Championship. Special thanks to our Blue Line BBQ team members for all the work they do at each Hambone Event to make sure the competition is an event to remember and special thanks to Senator Hooks and Blue Line BBQ Member Kevin Sparks, FVPD Lieutenant (retired), for all the hard work and dedication in working with the legislators to get this resolution drafted and passed. This is a great honor that we should all be proud of.
